  1. Dynafire Bionic Commando Launch Party at Cyber Ops

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 24 2009

Today I went to the launch party celebrating the release of the new Bionic Commando title. I didn't have any real interest in playing the multiplayer, but it was more of an excuse to make the rare 4 hour round drive to hang out with friends and kick back in Cyber Ops's oh-so-comfortable couches.

On the drive up, I managed to get my first ever speeding citation. They only got me at 75, thankfully. There are times I like to drive about 90 on that road, so it could have been much worse. However, I didn't let that ruin my day. The ticket was only $76, so I'll just skip eating out for a few weeks, and that'll even itself out.

Upon my arrival, I was greeted by RyuBlitz and Seripha, and we headed upstairs to the store. There was a decent turnout for the launch party, and plenty of free pizza and pop to satisfy our tremendous appetites. We messed around with Bionic Commando's multiplayer, for a while, and it's surprisingly addictive. One complaint though: I hate the sniper rifle. It's a one-hit kill on any part of the body, and in the hands of a competent sniper, it's ridiculous. Other than that, it's a blast to swing around levels, and once you get used to the weapons, the gunplay is pretty fun too. It seems like there are a few hit detection issues from time to time, but it's a solid experience nonetheless.

We had a few skirmishes before the actual event, which was an 8-man free-for-all for all the marbles. Up at stake, a rather expensive Triton Precision Gaming Headset and 3 $10 Best Buy giftcards. Not too shabby for a tournament with free entry. Anyway, I'm proud to say that I was the winner of the headset Very Happy . RyuBlitz came in at a very close second place, with Seripha taking third.

It's fantastic. It's got surround sound and all that jazz, plus very good noise canceling abilities, and excellent voice clarity. I will never, ever go back to using the standard 360 headset. Many thanks to Chris and Brian for hosting the event, and making it a truly enjoyable experience for everyone. You truly are gods among mortals. Wink

Thanks for the kind words. We always enjoy having you guys up.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you were sandbagging during the first few multiplayer matches with the way you handled things in the free-for-all. Nice job! Glad you're putting the new headphones to some good use.

Excellent chronicle. I couldn't have said it better myself... Except for the whole sniper part, of course. Wink

I'm glad to hear you had such a nice time and maybe you can think of the speeding ticket as your entry payment...then this new headset as your prize Wink

Thanks for sharing your experience and although I wish I could have joined everyone, the Ozarks have been great, so we'll catch ya at the next video game event!
