Rock Band's bass pedal = not durable :(
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Sep 08 2008
As you can probably tell from the title, I broke my bass pedal. Well, not exactly "broke", more like cracked. I have been playing on this drumset (which I bought new) for what I estimate to be around 12 hours. Twelve whole hours, and I already cracked the damn thing. That's utter crap.
In this situation there are a couple things you can do. One, you can call EA and RMA the thing, which doesn't do a whole lot besides make you wait up to a month for the same kind of pedal, which will more than likely break again. Two, you fix it yourself. There are a ton of fixes I found online, and most of the good ones include attaching a metal or wood reinforcement to it. I didn't have any wood or metal laying around, and didn't want to pay more money to get a custom fit one online, so I went the super cheap route.
Here's what I used to fix it:
Duct tape
Football cards
A toploader for said sports cards
Scissors
That's it.
First, I put a few cards inside the toploader and cut it into the shape of the top of the pedal, so it wouldn't feel awkward. I put it over the crack, and duct-taped it to the pedal, putting I think a triple layer of duct tape around it. Since I am a noob at drums, I had cracked it above the orange bar. I had also read that the thing is likely to snap below the spring, so I folded a bunch of cards in half, (don't worry - nothing good ) wrapped them in duct tape, stuck them in the gap between the pivot point and spring on the underside of the pedal, and applied a double layer of tape around it so the pedal remains straight while fully depressed and doesn't bend at all - It's the equivalent of adding another set of stops. The pedal now works perfectly fine and feels much stronger. I'll get a picture when I get the chance.

I can't wait to see a photo of this and although it might not look as pretty, I'm glad you got it fixed for free...assuming you didn't use a Joe Montana rookie card
