GoG game night 7/23 - Gears of War

In keeping with the tradition of writing about the game nights, here's a recap of what happened last night. Ben, Ryublitz, KSI Goku, and myself were online and ready to go, and through a few additional invites, got a couple more people, and began the first Gears of War night!
The first game we played was some 3 vs 3 warzone. This was the first time I had ever played the multiplayer, and quickly learned what NOT to do. I don't remember what map it was, but my first game resulted in me getting my head blown off with a longshot before I had even fired a round. LAME. It got better though, and I started getting kills, so I guess I was doing something right. I'm pretty sure our team ended up losing, but it was pretty fun.
We had a full party for the two subsequent games, and had some pretty epic matches. There were mixed reactions to the multiplayer in Gears. If you're used to Halo or Call of Duty, this game may turn you off. The only thing I didn't like about it was that once you're dead, that's it. You're dead until the round is over. Thankfully, the rounds are usually over pretty quickly, and you can spectate other players on your team to kill time. Overall, I liked it, but I don't see myself playing it too much. I hardly even play Halo 3 or Call of Duty anymore.
We ended up switching to good 'ole Halo 3 after an hour or so with gears, and got a few decent rounds in. We played a game of CTF with Zilla and his son, then BEN, RyuBlitz, and myself went after people in team slayer. I believe we won each of those games.

Posted On Jul 24 2008Thanks for the recap! We also hooked up with a large KSI group of directors for a few additional games of Halo 3 after you left. I'll be looking forward to next week and hope to see alot more people joining us as we move into August!
