Player Chronicle -- Posted on Nov 01 2009

I've been playing quite a bit of Borderlands lately. So much so, that I've had dreams of looting the vast Pandoran desert. So in an effort to stop that, I need to either take a break from gaming for a bit (unlikely), or find something else to play, to get my mind on something different.

Yesterday, I decided to check out some indie games on the Xbox Live Marketplace. I actually purchased a couple, too.

First up is "I made a game with zombies in it". The title is actually "I MAED A GAM3 W1TH ZOMBIES 1N IT!!!1", and I actually bought this a few weeks ago. The game is a twin stick shooter similar to Smash TV or more recently, Assault Heroes. You move with the left stick, and shoot in whichever direction you want with the right stick. What makes this game fun though, is that it's set to a fantastic song that is guaranteed to deliver varying degrees of awesome. Once the song ends, it's game over, which is my only complaint. Still, it's about 10-15 minutes long, has varying enemies in addition to zombies, various powerups, and plenty of fun visual effects. Oh, and it's a dollar. 80 ms points. You'd be silly not to buy this game. My current high score is a little over 840k, if anyone's up for a challenge. Wink

Another game I ended up buying was Fishing Girl. It's a cutesy little game where the object is to catch fish, upgrade your lure and rod, and reel in the island that has separated from the mainland. It sounds weird, but just check out the game to see what I mean. It's a pretty short game that can be beaten in 2-3 minutes once you get good enough, but what keeps you playing it are the badges, which can be thought of as achievements without gamerscore. You get them for perfect casts, catching a small, medium, and large fish in succession, beating the game, etc. It's a strangely addictive little game, and like the zombie game, it's a dollar.

The third game I haven't played much of yet, but it's called Miner: Dig Deep. From what I gather, you dig in this massive area to find various materials which you can sell, then use the money to upgrade your equipment. You can get stuck in the mine though, which is mostly what you try to avoid. If you get stuck, you have to summon a rescue, and you lose all the resources you've gathered. Another fun little time killer, and again, just a dollar.

I'm going to check out the remainder of the indie games some other time. Miner was where I stopped, but there are still a couple hundred left to browse.

This Chronicle made me laugh, I'm sorry, haha.

I would think a dream about video games would be sweet, so my advice would be to keep it going strong Laughing

Nonetheless, if you decide to shift over, let us know so we can join you if others have the same title. Plus L4D2 comes out soon, so I'm sure you'll be all over that!

Since you already got me to buy the zombie game (which is totally worth it btw), I get to spend 2 more dollars now Very Happy
