  1. Dynafire Games 4 Grins event - 12/13/08

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 15 2008

I had meant to write this yesterday, but laziness got the best of me. The event was fantastic. I got there at about 10:45 after a wonderfully long 2 hour drive, and immediately got Guitar Hero 3 league stuff out of the way with ZMaine.

The event itself was little more than simply playing games and donating some money to Child's Play. I think I ended up dropping about $80 between straight up donations, and purchasing a few items via the silent auction. It feels great to be helping out a good cause.

The rest of the day was full of random games, and chatting it up with fellow GoG members and other people alike. I found out that I actually enjoy Gears of War 2 - the Horde mode anyway. RyuBlitz, Ben, Link and I made it through to wave 15, and while not remarkable, it was fun. I may have to get this sometime in the future. We also got some Rock Band 2 full band sessions in, and there were plenty of full games of Left 4 Dead going on. After a while, Ben, RyuBlitz, and Link left, so I did a little bit of level grinding in Fallout 3 since I still have 2 achievements left to get.

During the day, we also got some free food donated by Buffalo Wild Wings, and Leaning Tower of Pizza. I'd just like to say thank you to both businesses. The spicy garlic wings are freaking amazing, and I ended up buying a bucket from the CR location for lunch/dinner yesterday. Likewise, LToP's Pizza is really tasty. I don't know if it's their sauce or cheese, but something really makes their pizza stand out from the likes of Pizza Hut or Papa Johns.

I ended up winning all of my "beat me at Guitar Hero or Rock Band and I'll donate a dollar" challenges, but I ended up donating a bit extra anyway. :P There were a lot of parents that came in with their kids, and I thought that was pretty cool too. It was neat seeing parents getting involved with their childrens' activites.

So, that's about it. I had a great time meeting up with everyone, and it was a fun way to spend a Saturday.

Nice event review Dynafire! I'm looking forward to weaving in the audio we recorded for the GoGcast and I agree that we had a lot of fun. Like I mentioned on Saturday, I hate how time disappears in that place Laughing
