  1. Dynafire My Black Friday adventure

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 04 2008

I know it's been almost a week since Black Friday, but I figured I should write about my little experience. First of all, I'm not motivated enough to wake up at 5am and wait in a huge line for hours on end in the hopes of getting a good deal. I woke up around 8:30am, took my sweet time getting out of bed (I physically left my bed at 8:45), took a shower, ate breakfast, and headed out around 9:45. The only thing I was really interested in was the $10 guitar controllers at Toys R Us, so I drove across town and into TOTAL ANARCHY.

The parking lot was packed, and inside, it was pandemonium. People were everywhere. My hopes of getting my $10 guitar were nearly dashed - I looked through the tremendously long checkout line, and saw at least a dozen people with the product in-hand. Regardless, I pushed onward holding on to just a sliver of hope. I got to the display and...nothing. All of them were gone. Damn! I exclaimed. So I was about to leave empty handed. Disappointed, but glad about not having to wait in the huge checkout line. But wait. I decided to check out their games to see if they had anything else on sale, when lo and behold, I spied a lone guitar on a top shelf. I immediately grab it, scan it, and sure enough, it's $10. I do a mental fist pump and head off to wait in line.

The line itself is worthy of mention here, because it was literally 45 minutes long. Tempers were short amongst many, but luckily, I have all the patience in the world. The path to the front was littered with abandoned toys and games, obviously left by people who were too weak to last in this trial of patience. Lucky for me, I was in line behind one of the nicest middle-aged ladies I've ever met, we had random conversations all the way to the checkout, and the time went flying by. I emerged victorious and held aloft my purchase for others to see in the parking lot.

That's pretty much the end of my adventure. I was planning on stopping by Wal-Mart, but I drove by and saw that there were zero parking spaces so I just kept on driving. I got home, tried out the guitar, and it works just fine.

"....I do a mental fist pump and head off to wait in line..... "
    - Thats priceless! Why mental? You should have let it fly! Maybe even throw in a little air (or box) guitar too!
