  1. Dynafire Lag Calibration For Rhythm Games

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Oct 02 2008

So I got this brand spanking new LCD HDTV a few weeks ago, and as soon as I popped in Rock Band 2, I noticed the audio was not synced up to the notes.

Thankfully, there is a lag calibration tool in the game that allows you to account for this. The only problem was that the thing didn't work for me. It was definitely better than the default setting, but I still noticed that while playing exactly on rhythm, I would miss. I said "screw it" and went back to playing on my SDTV.

Well, last night I had enough of switching between HD and SD on the 360, and moving cords around, so I sat down and tried to manually calibrate the game. Lo and behold, it's near perfect now. I can still see the notes appearing slightly below the "hit line" or whatever you want to call it, so I may tweak it just a little more, but it's obvious from my playing last night that it doesn't really need it.

Highlights (all on X guitar) (FC means 100% notes hit without overstrumming for those not familiar with the lingo)
solo 1 FC in Let There be Rock
    solo 2 FC in Painkiller
-1 on Pinball Wizard (it's my own stupid fault I missed, not the TV's)
Bassline FC in Ramblin' Man (on sightread - first time playing) for the groove master Battle of the Bands challenge. I'm in like a 500-way tie for 1st Smile

And possibly the greatest achievement ever in mankind's existence: I FC'ed Cool For Cats. INSANITY. (sarcasm lol)

It's so nice being able to play the game without being hindered. Strangely enough, Rock Band 1 didn't need any adjustment, and Guitar Hero 3 only needed a minor tweak from the get-go. It's weird how stuff works sometimes.
