  1. Dynafire My Top Ten Favorite Games of All-Time pt.10

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow/Symphony of the Night.

This choice was tough. Both of these titles are incredible, and each one has its own pros and cons when comparing it to the other. Therefore, I'm including both. (I'm aware that this makes it a top 11 rather than top 10, but whatever. Smile ) To be honest, all of the 2D Castlevania games are really good and are definitely worthy of your hard earned dollars, ruples, euros, or what have you.

At its core, Symphony of the Night is a 2D platformer. Add to that a killer soundtrack, RPG elements, and a large, interesting environment, and you have a best-seller on your hands. The gameplay is fantastic, even though it mostly consists of running around and taking swipes at enemies with your weapon. Speaking of which, there are a ton of weapons/armor to find in Dracula's castle, and nearly every area has something hidden in it that you will want to find. The only problem I had with this game was that the voice acting at times can be pretty awful. (Look, a switch! Let's press it and see! - 'nuff said.) There is a good reason that this game is critically acclaimed, and you have to play it to see why.

Dawn of Sorrow is basically the same, but takes all of SotN's weaknesses and improves on them. Everything is rendered beautifully, it still has great music, lots of goodies to find, and introduces a new magic system. Ocassionally when you defeat an enemy, you will capture their souls. All souls have different abilities that can buff up your stats, or perform attacks. Compared to SotN's 8 (?) spells that I never used, the soul system presents you with lots of options. If you capture a skeleton's soul for example, you can throw bones. You can also capture additional souls of the same enemy that will (usually) make its effects stronger.

There's not much more that can be said about this DoS that I didn't alread say in the SotN paragraph above. There is one aspect of DoS though, that would make it much better than SotN if it were different, and that is the fact that you have to play it on the DS screens. It's not a bad thing at all, but this is a game that I would have much more fun with if I could play it on a screen larger than 3 inches.

Yeah, I know these little reviews are pretty shallow in their content, but you can trust me when I say that these games are really good.

Well, that about wraps it up for my top ten. I will be writing a few more chronicles about more good games that didn't quite make it in.
