While I was playing Rock Band 2 the other night, I noticed something that I hadn't really thought about before. I was happily strumming through PDA, and whiffed on a solitary blue note about 1100 notes through the song. I only just realized that this has happened about 8 times, and I still haven't gotten the FC on it. (FC is 100% without ever breaking your streak, btw.)
PDA is a very easy song in Rock Band 2. Ace of Spades '08 on the other hand is pretty difficult. However, I've FC'd AoS'08 3 of the 5 times I've played it, while PDA has yet to be conquered.
This dilemma of the cursed FC isn't just limited to Rock Band 2, either. There are other songs in each game well within my ability to FC, and I just can't do it.
In GHI, I can't get Higher Ground, even though I've gotten the FC about 6 times now on GHII 360. Sure, the engine in GHI is much harder than the one in GHII, but I know the song really well, and should be able to do it.
In GHII, Strutter is my arch-nemesis. It is one of the first FC's most people are likely to get in the game, and again, I just can't get it. I'm almost tempted to get that Misirlou FC I was working on a year ago just so I can say "I FC'd Misirlou before Strutter".
In GHIII, there is a pair of songs that continue to defy being FC'd. The Seeker and In Love. I have gotten a 100% with an overstrum on The Seeker, with about a dozen -1's. I tried for a while in September to get this one, and every time I'd miss somewhere different. With In Love, I've again had at least a dozen -1's, but every time it's the same part I mess up. I can hit that part in practice about 4/5 times, but in a real run it's about 0/1000. Okay, that's exaggerating a bit, but it's just annoying.
Rock Band 1 had Don't Fear the Reaper for a while, but I finally got it in Band Quickplay with MrBigJeezy and JackDaniels624 as witnesses not too long ago.
I don't really care all that much about FC's or scores anymore, but it's just annoying that I can't FC these easier songs while I can get some of the harder ones. /rant :P
