Rock Band 2 - opinions of the 20 free song pack
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Nov 07 2008
I just sat down to play more Fallout, but managed to throw the Rock Band 2 disc in and play some new songs instead. In case you didn't know about it, there is a code on the back of your instruction manual that tells you to enter it at a website. After registering your game and confirming your email, you should get a code to download 20 additional tracks free of charge.
Here's my initial impressions of the songs on Expert guitar, in order of in-game difficulty.
Band - song name
Dealership - Database Corrupted
Sounds a bit like PDA, which I like. It's very easy, but still a good tune.
Lesley Roy - I'm Gone, I'm Going
Also very easy. I don't really care for this tune though.
The Cab - Bounce
Another pretty easy one, but this is really catchy.
Hollywood Undead - Young
I normally don't like screaming vocalists, but this song is an exception. I think you're actually playing a piano part during the verses, and it sounds pretty good.
Ghost Hounds - Ashes to Fire
A very short song, and not particularly difficult. A great, fun song though.
TheNewNo2 - Crazy Tuesday
Extremely easy, except for a long alt-strumming part in the middle. This is a pretty good song though.
The Len Price 3 - If I Ain't Got You
A little harder than the previous songs, and reminds me a lot of the Beach Boys. Not a bad song.
Opiate for the Masses - Burn You Down
I really like the solo in this song. Other than that, pretty decent.
The 88 - Sons and Daughters
I really like this song, and the chart is really fun to play.
Cocktail Slippers - Give it to Me
This song is a blast
Semi-Precious Weapons - Magnetic Baby
A very strange song - not necessarily in a good or bad way. It does have a fun note chart, and the solo is just plain awkward the first time you see it.
Kutless - The Feeling
This song is great, and surprisingly, I FC'd it on sightread. It's not too difficult to be honest, but there are a few tricky spots.
Authority Zero - No Regrets
Wow, this is a fantastic song. Very fun to play, challenging, and just an overall great song.
X Japan - I.V.
This may just be my favorite song in the pack, and it is definitely one of my favorites in the whole Rock Band library.
The Chevelles - Get It On
This song has an incredibly fun solo, and is another good song. Color me impressed by Harmonix's song choices.
Tickle Me Pink - The Time is Wrong
Another good one
Shaimus - Like a Fool
This song is ridiculously awesome, and hereby replaces I.V. as my favorite song in the pack.
Underoath - Desperate Times, Desperate Measures
More screaming vocalists, but the guitar part in this song is incredibly fun and challenging.
Endeverafter - I Wanna Be Your Man
I am blown away. The last five songs have been tremendous fun on guitar, and this one is no exception. The solo is just amazing.
Between the Buried and me - Prequel to the Sequel
I would really like this song if it were an instrumental, since it has another screamer-type vocalist. Still, pretty hard, and overall enjoyable.
There you have it. This pack is really good for being free, even though it does eat up 540MB of precious, precious memory. ...And now back to Fallout.
