  1. MLG Meadowlands Day One…and Two

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 06 2009

This MLG Meadowlands adventure started at 4:15am on Friday morning (4-3-09). This early start was to make the first flight out of Des Moines and make it into Secaucus, New Jersey by the early afternoon, when the first rounds of the 2009 MLG season opener began.

A short layover in Detroit didn’t last long and soon I was getting picked up by some KSI and Evil Controller guys at the Newark airport and headed to the Embassy Suites next to the expo center. We arrived and after getting settled in, it was time.

Walking into MLG Meadowlands was quite a site. The MLG had warned of a bigger and better show and they seriously accomplished this. I was fortunate to receive a media pass, which allowed me to bring this video game community unique highlights that many could not get, because cameras were not technically allowed inside unless you had this type of access.

Anyways, after enjoying a stroll around the whole venue, I soon met up with Status Quo, Team Foxy, pros I had met at the Winter Wonder LAN, and other friends that I had met at MLG Dallas 08 or around this fine place. The scene was magnificent as hundreds of Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 matches ensued into the late hours of the first night of competition.

Team Foxy had not had enough time to practice before the event and struggled in their first match, but Status Quo enjoyed an exciting win on Main Stage later in the evening. Our friends from Triggers Down, XiT Wounds, Main Attraction, and Heaven and Earth also did well in their matches.

One of the coolest things about this first day was later in the evening, Team Foxy, SK, and I had a chance to hold a photo shoot in the MLG media room with all the girls of Team Foxy. You’ll surely see some of those great photos around here soon.

So I had planned to write about the rest of this first day, but this Chronicle is already getting fairly long, so let’s cut this article off here…although this entry gets us to Friday around 11:30pm…this first day was FAR from over…
