  1. BEN My Game Didn't Save...I Quit!!!

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Nov 26 2008

I feel like I was sent back in time to struggle against the saving system of a recent game I was playing the campaign for.

Remember when you'd turn your NES off back in the day? You never knew whether or not that Techmo Bowl season you had been enjoying would be there when you turned it back on!

Well, although it makes me feel like a n00b, this has happened to me with Call of Duty: World at War 3 times now! At first I thought we had not gotten far enough to hit a saving checkpoint, but after playing through 2-3 missions and STILL losing the game, I about went crazy.

I've got the question of "How do you save these games?" in the GoG Forum already, but it's gotten to the point where I've said the campaign will never be played again.

I still haven't completed the Halo 3 campaign and never even started the CoD4 campaign, so what can I really be missing, right? Haha...I know, I know...I need to give it another try, but not until I figure out this abnormally saving structure for CoD:WaW!!!

Not too long ago, I experienced that feeling with Overlord: Raising Hell. There are a few of the "bonus" levels that are just too darn long to hit in one shot.

Even worse, is when a game crashes or "freaks out" on you! That really gets my blood boiling!

I know, some of these games are completely ridiculous with their saving systems. I know I've said this somewhere before, but I played halfway through Halo 1, and thought "checkpoint" meant "data saved". Obviously, it doesn't work like that, and I had to play through it all over again.

I wouldn't give up on it completely though. You should be able to reach your previous point much faster the next time, since you already know what to do.
