  1. Seripha Apparently I Interrupted Her Knitting

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Aug 03 2009

Yesterday, I spent the morning and part of the afternoon at RyuBlitz's place. Upon my departure, I asked if I could borrow his Rock Band drum kit and a few of his Rock Band/Guitar Hero games, so I could whore out some more achievements. He willingly agreed, and I headed home with the stuff about 2:15 or so. I had to pick up and drop off a friend first, so I arrived back at my place around 3:30.

After arriving back at my new place (which I moved into last Friday), I promptly set up the Rock Band drums. I put a floor mat beneath the kit to absorb some of the noise from the kick, and to keep it from sliding on the floor (laminated hardwood). I proceeded to play through the drum career on Guitar Hero: Metallica. I was wary that I was on the second floor, so I played as quietly as I could and kept the music down relatively low. I figured I would be okay, since I had played the kit with RyuBlitz before at my old apartment late at night and had never gotten any complaints. I probably played the drums for an hour or two and decided to take a break around 5:30. I heated up some pizza and sat down to watch Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle on Comedy Central...

Five or so minutes into eating my pizza I heard a knock at the door. My first thought was that my downstairs neighbor was upset and wanted me to keep it down. So, I got up and checked the peephole, and, to my surprise, a cop was standing on the other side. I opened the door, and he, of course, said that somebody complained about loud music being played in my apartment. I instantly apologized and said that it was most likely me playing video games, as I pointed to the Rock Band drum kit. The cop smiled furtively and said, "Playing some Rock Band, huh?" I again apologized, and he proceeded to ask to see my driver's license. After I retrieved it for him, he called the number in and waited for a response. While we were waiting, he asked when I had moved in and where I had previously lived. After I told him, he smiled and said, "You may just have more sensitive neighbors than you did at your old place." After my license checked out, he suggested I maybe keep it down a little bit in the future. Overall he seemed like a really nice guy who could clearly tell I was not attempting to cause any problems with anybody.

I am not sure who my downstairs neighbor is, but it was 4 o' clock in the afternoon for goodness' sake. It's not like I was keeping everyone awake at 10 o' clock at night. RyuBlitz and I had played far louder than I was on multiple occasions at my old place and never got a single complaint. Not to mention the numerous times I had played at my other friend's apartment that is seated directly above another apartment. So, my assumption is that I live above a ninety year old woman, and I either interrupted her knitting or bingo hour. I guess it could also be that the floors at this place are not soundproofed at all... In which case I would maybe sort of feel badly... But only sort of... No, not really at all...

    Cheers,
    Seripha

    haha, wow, isn't that annoying?

You should leave your quick-to-reporting neighbor a flaming bag of poor on his/her doorstep Laughing
