Player Chronicle -- Posted on Feb 14 2008

So a friend and I have started a new weekly podcast that we call the AC Show. On this podcast the topics can go basically anywhere. From completely random facts, video games, movies and even politics. We have made our first episode and it's been up for almost a week now but we currently are still planning out some things that we may want to do in the future.

We currently have a blog set up in which we would add a blog update with a download link to the podcast. However it is our intentions to hopefully later on get a website started to fully focus on the podcast and possibly even more features later on.

    But I have some questions.....

FIrst: Are you more likely to listen to a podcast if the podcast was on it's own dedicated website or if it's just on a blogging site? Does it make a difference?

Second: Our first introductory show clocked in at about 25 minutes. Is this too long? Too short? Or just right?

Third: Are you more likely to listen to a show that has a set schedule on what to talk about and for how long, or a show that is unscripted with every new topic thrown out at random?

Fourth: In our first episode the sound gets low in two spots for a couple seconds. It is something that would be fixed in the future but would something like this drive you away from listening to future episodes?

Fifth: Would a podcast like ours that covers a broad range of topics interest you more than a podcast that focussed on one topic alone?

Sixth: What kind of things would drive you away from a podcast?

That's all that I can think of for now. My friend and I would appreciate some feedback on these questions to help us further develop our podcast. It's important to us to let potential listeners weigh in their thoughts on the podcast so that we are able to improve it. Thank you for your time and if you would like to check out our first episode you can find the link under the Links section in my profile.

First, a response to your Chronicle here...

    1. No difference
    2. 25 minutes is just about right. The ones I've been on have been more like an hour
    3. on topic is important, but tangents are fun too
    4. sound quality is huge, but a few minor problems would not drive me away completely, unless this continued and it became hard to listen to
    5. I think a more focused topic is better, even if that topic changes each show
    6. lack of time to listen/participate

Lastly, we're developing a GoG channel and maybe we can have you as a guest host once in awhile Very Happy More information to come, but be thinking about that opportunity...
