'Tis A Sad Day...
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jul 06 2008
Well, the time has come... My 360 RRoD'ed. Though, to be honest, I'm fortunate that it didn't happen during the Microsoft Tech-Ed event. (As you can see from the picture, I haven't even taken the custom skin off yet.)
Hopefully, this won't take too long. I should be able to get it running long enough to transfer the important stuff to a MU, and I'll still be at the GoG Game Nights... I'll just have to stop up at CyberOps instead.
Here's to hoping MS will take some pity and send me one of the new models...

Posted On Jul 07 2008Heh, thanks guys. If anything, it's probably a good thing that it broke right now; maybe I'll actually go get some of my work done.
Dynafire, you're right I don't have to send in my hard drive; also, I recently decided to splurge on a Memory Unit, so that I don't have to deal with the lengthy recoveries every time I go to/from CyberOps. It should come in handy this Friday... -

That sucks. There's really not a whole lot you can do to stop the RRoD though. On the bright side, I don't think you have to send your hard drive in with the Xbox, so you could just recover your GT at CyberOps and have access to all your stuff. -

Posted On Jul 07 2008A sad say indeed, my friend. For what it's worth, they're VERY speedy on getting you the empty box (with foam inserts, tape, mailing lable, etc) almost the next day after you register your problem online.
From past experience, it's usually only a couple weeks to get it back.
Sucks when it happens, but I have to give their repair center a thumbs up for speedy service.
