  1. spartana15 Things I Better Not See at E3

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jun 09 2010

Ah, the smell of summer. Flame broiled burgers, fireworks, freshly cut grass, no school, it doesn't get much better. Which is why I usually spend this time inside, glued to my computer and television monitoring the E3 coverage. This year, I was fortunate enough to get a pass into the show, so not only will I be glued to my computer and televisions, I'll be walking around ooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over the latest and greatest. Also, undoubtedly, I will be wtf-ing and are-you-serious-ing to some of the things I see. So, instead of going on about the things I want to see, or expect to see, I'm going to list a few things I better not see. Or else.

    Natal priced over $100
This would be a major mistake for Microsoft. People are already skeptical, and while I'm holding out with mild enthusiasm, MS can price themselves right out of the war if they're not smart.

PSN Update 5.018274-Now with Less Features!
Removal of Linux has had many, many people upset with Sony (including the US Air Force,) so let's hope Sony doesn't do it again. I do expect a major OS update soon, however, as they're probably going to update the firmware for Move support. Let's hope they don't try to sneak anything by us.

    Reggie Fils-Aime
I better not see him because he scares me, and I've said not-nice things about the Wii.

    Another Wii Add-On Peripheral
I don't know anybody with the Motion Plus. Even worse, I only know of a handful of games that support the thing. Releasing a peripheral like that makes it very difficult for developers and consumers alike. Most of the Wii's install base has no clue what it is, why they need it, or that you can buy Wii games that aren't Wii Fit.

    Booth Boys
I know E3 is famous for it's booth babes, but so help me, if some guy in a banana hammock comes up to me dancing and talking about his Wii, I'm not going to be a happy panda.

Obviously, this list is somewhat satirical, but E3 is a make-it or break-it type of event. With major hardware and software launches coming this holiday season, MS and Sony need to get people excited about their products, and Nintendo just needs to do something. Nobody can afford a weak showing this year. Now, I must sleep to prepare for the craziness.

I have a Wii, I stood in line to buy one. I played Twilight Princess for a bit, never finished it. I'm a graphics snob, and it was difficult for me to resist my shiny Xbox 360 sitting next to it. I've played all the "best" games for it, and had some fun doing it, but Nintendo just isn't targeting me. They're targeting Mom, Dad, and sister. When "Wii Music" is the headline for their E3 conference, they're obviously missing something. But they were making tons of money, so kudos to them.

I'm actually very excited and nervous about Nintendo's presentation this year. I know that some (most) ppl have made up their minds to hate Nintendo no matter what, but i'm hoping they can at least make me feel better about owning one.
