  1. Iowa Pro Gaming 4v4 Modern Warfare 2 Challenges

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Feb 15 2010

With Division II of TIPGC being the hugely popular Modern Warfare 2 title on the Xbox 360, Infinity ward has continued making the LAN environment difficult to setup and manage fairly Surprised

Not only does every player have to have their own Xbox 360, screen, game, and controller...but the custom classes make for a hard decision as well!

With the online ranking being completely separate from the LAN rankings, it's likely that even if we were to instruct participants to bring their own hard drive or memory card, they would only have XBL rankings to utilize the customized classes from and not any development on their LAN profile. This means that many of the participants would end up starting from scratch, but the upside would be that as the event continued, more gun availabilities would be establish. To us, that just feel very unfair and open to a lot of different variables.

Another more outside of the box idea, was to mod the machines to all be Prestige 10, Level 70. This would obviously give everyone the same gun/class selection, but I'm not even sure if this is possible and just feels weird for the live tournament environment.

The last approach that is being considered is the safest and most fair, but also the least climatic! This approach would be to only allow the 6 default classes throughout the event. Obviously these are fairly bare bone classes, but it's the only true way to keep everyone on the same playing field.

The other challenge is determining the game types to be played. Right now we're leaning towards Team Deathmatch, Search & Destroy, and Domination as the main three game types. Team Deathmatch would be the majority game type by far, but it's important to sprinkle in some strategy elements as well. It also needs to be determined as to if the Team Deathmatch games would be Hardcore or not?
    ______

As you can see, this division is causing some developmental questions. Why can't Infinity Ward take some hints from Bungie?! Nobody is complaining about the standardized MLG maps/rules/settings for Halo 3, are they? lol

YOUR thoughts on this would be MUCH appreciated and we've got a GoG Forum discussion going within the event's thread. If you want your voice to be heard as we make the final call very soon, jump into the discussion here:

Unfortunatly i don't know much about this as i have yet to play. It just seems odd to me the Infinity would make a kick-ass multiplayer phenominon and botch something like this. Weird. Also, is anybody playing the PC version of this game?
