  1. A-Thon X Real Late Review: Tatsunoku vs. Capcom

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 26 2010

I don't play a whole lot of fighting games. Not that i have anything against them, i love them, i just don't really play them that often. So when X-Play gave Tetsunoku vs.Capcom a 5 out of 5, i knew right away that i had to own this game. Not many 5 out of 5's on the Wii, y'know.

I played through the game with my two favorite characters, Viewtiful Joe and MegaMan. At the time of my writing this i've played through the game and beaten it 3 times. And i gotta say, i love it.

Now, I wouldnt really call the controls intuitive, but like i said, i don't play fighting games that often, so it could just be me. But im used to simple kick/punch moves and then having to punch buttons for combos. The combos were very easy, which was a relief, i didnt spend the whole fight trying to pull off a move, which was nice. But Megaman doesnt have just a kick/punch so that was disconcerting. And trying to figure out button combos for some of the more interesting moves was a bit frustrating at times.

But once i got used to it, i started to have a lot of fun and really pull off some sweet moves and hold my own during the campaign.

I love the end storys and the animation is new and sleek but still very familiar. I was surprised to discover just how familiar i am with Tetsunoku without even realizing it. Tekkaman was always a favorite of mine. Very Happy

Online play was slow and laggy though, but i have no doubt that my internet connection was the reason for this, but still, i have no problem playing The Conduit online, and i would think that this game would run even better, but it didnt.

Overall, i feel like the moves and fighting mechanics are gonna take some getting used to at first, but it wont take long to get into it, and once you get it figured out, its a very fun game. I definetely recommend this as a buy. Thx Capcom. Very Happy

Im looking forward to Marvel vs. Capcom the most. I can't wait to play that game. I seriously need an X-Box now more than ever.

I'm not a big fighting-game type of a guy, but I still enjoyed the video game review here. What title are you most looking forward to in this genre that seems to be so repetitive in my opinion?
