  1. BigNeen004 Final Fantasy without guides?!

So I was playing FFXII recently. I'm working on getting all 80 of the rare game creatures. I have the strategy guide (that I honestly try my very best not to use) which lists them all and the specific section they're in, as well as their level, weaknesses ect. The only thing it does not tell is what is required to make the stinkin' things spawn!

After walking in and out of both the main and secret sections of the map at least 10-12 times trying different methods of killing, not killing, doing the hokey pokey ect.ect. I finally gave up and hit the internet.

The solution? Stand directly in the center of the lower platform and face north for a minute or two. How in the world was I supposed to know that?!

That made me wonder, is there even the tiniest bit of a remote chance possible to figure out things like this without a guide and/or that internet thang? Even with the guide I would have never, ever figured that out!

There are a lot of games I can think of that are like that. The best example is Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. There is a part where in order to advance in the game, you have to kneel against a wall for ten seconds and have a crystal equipped. A tornado comes and carries you to the next area. There is no possible way you could figure that out on your own.

I'd say refrain from using the guide if you can. Doing everything on your own adds replayability to a game, and makes the rewards truly rewarding. I am trying my hardest to get full gamerscore on Fallout 3 without the help of guides, and man it is tough. It just makes finding each new bobblehead or completing each quest that much more satisfying though.
