  1. Gvirus05 Ninja Gaiden 2

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jun 07 2008

Well I've been waiting for this game for a long time. I absolutely loved Ninja Gaiden Black. So how does round two fair?

When Ninja Gaiden first released on the Xbox console, it was revolutionary. It brought brand new gameplay as well as excellent graphics for its time. Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't revolutionize the series, but it does have some great additions!

First of all, yes the crappy camera is still here. I am rather annoyed they didn't fix this issue, but I can look past it. The story of Ninja Gaiden 2 is rather confusing and hard to follow. This game really isn't about an intriguing story anyways, it's about bloody ninja goodness. (and I do mean BLOODY) Gameplay is as fun as ever, slicing enemies up and running on walls just makes you feel like a badass. Ninja Gaiden 2 sports a great selection of weapons, secondary weapons, and of course ninja magic (ninpo). All of the different ways to kill people makes each battle unique and bloody.

Unlike its predecessor, Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't take a big leap forward with graphics. This time around, all of the cutscenes are in-game. The grapics aren't terrible by any means, they just don't use the Xbox 360 to its full potential. However I do believe this helps the game stay fast paced and action packed. I would have liked to seen actual cinematics, but after playing the game I just realized all I care about is kicking butt. The levels however are pretty straigh foward. The environtments are kind of bland as well, but again, with all of the ninja action and juicey red blood, you tend to look past it.

Be warned, this game is TOUGH. Even on it's 'easiest' difficulty, this game will pound you into the ground and make you its... well you know. It can be frustratingly hard on the higher difficulties. I found myself throwing the controller around like a mad man. Even with doing so, I keep picking the controller up and playing again. I'm addicted. The game provides a great challenge. Instead of getting mad and quitting, I get motivated to beat the challenge. It make me frustrated but I can't let myself be defeated!

If you're a fan of the Ninja Gaiden series, then yes you NEED to play this game. If you are unsure, at least rent it. This game is worth playing. With every video game, some will like it and some will hate it. I think it is brutastically fun!

Well those are my thoughts, love 'em or hate 'em.

    Score: 8/10

It is unfortunate that I have not played the first one, but I hope to jump into the series with this new one!

I do like the new "Obliteration" technique that gives a stylized finish to somebody you've just hacked a limb from.

The hacked parts continue arterial spray for a short time. It's funny that Ryu doesn't slip and fall in all that blood he runs through! Ninja

I haven't got far enough into it to make sense of the story. The cut scenes are gorgeous for sure. I wasn't turned off by the graphics at all.

I've been there, i recently bought it and the first thing i noticed about the comabt was... the man who's leg i just hacked off crawled up behind me scrambled up my leg, and sent me and him into a firey grave.
