Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 06 2008

Arcade Game Auction Start-Up ChaseTheChuckwagon.com is pleased to announce a series of auctions featuring games from the private collections of Mr. Brian Colin and Jeff Nauman, formerly of Midway Games. Here is some interesting information regarding Brian and Jeff:

Winning bidders can decide if they want to have a part of their game autographed and all sales will include a personalized letter from either Brian, Jeff or both. Brian added "Assume that any of our own games we'd be happy to provide documentation, game flyers, anecdotal histories and autographs."

The auctions will start in a couple weeks and the starting time will be announced here as a new Chronicle.

Here is what will be on the block:

KICK (aka KICKMAN) - RARE. A very early Bally/Midway arcade game. Clown on a unicycle kicks balloons up onto his PinHead to pop them! Cabinet side art in good condition. Worked OK when put in storage, i.e., Powers up fine, but coin mechanism needs work. Jeff Nauman was one of a couple programmers who worked on the game. Currently in Jeff's private collection.

TEAM LASER - VERY RARE. A 4-player Bally/Midway prototype arcade game; one of only 6 ever made, only two known to be in existence. Sort of of a face to-face Laser -Tag-ish shooting gallery. (Game was re-worked later became "BLASTED") Cabinet side art in good condition. Worked OK when put in storage, i.e., Powers up fine. Designed & developed by Jeff Nauman & Brian Colin. Currently in Jeff's private collection.

DISCS OF TRON "Environmental" - Bally/Midway arcade game; unique enclosed environment cabinet. Stunning and effective floating 3D playfield and the earliest and possibly best 3D game-play effects ever achieved. NOTE: Cabinet was cut in half for moving, otherwise, cabinet & side art in good condition. Stopped powering-up about 6 months ago. Art/animation by Brian Colin, (first game he ever worked on), programming by Bob Dinnerman. Currently in Brian's private collection.

BLASTED - A 2-player Bally/Midway head-to-head shooting gallery style game. Cabinet side art in good condition. Works fine, Powers up fine. Designed & developed by Brian Colin & Jeff Nauman. Currently in Brian's private collection.

PRIMAL RAGE - Arcade game. Cabinet in good condition. Worked OK when put in storage, Powered up fine.

GHOSTS N GOBLINS - Arcade game. Cabinet in good condition. Worked OK when put in storage, Powered up fine.

ZWACKERY - RARE. A Bally/Midway spell-casting & sword-fighting game. Wizard Zack Thwacker runs around in a quest to turn a frog back into a princess and vanquish the Evil Ghoulum. One of only 150 units released. The first game on which Brian Colin was credited as team lead and Game Designer. Cabinet in good condition. Stopped powering-up about 9 months ago. Designed & developed by Brian Colin & Emil Golem. Currently in Brian's private collection.

Again, I want to thank Brian and Jeff for the opportunity to host the auctions of these very special games.

Those guys over at Game Refuge are awesome and they still might support GoG through some advertisement connections. Their latest release, Arctic Stud is now available as well and these auctions sounds very interesting Very Happy

I hope it continues to raise the visibility level of your video game auctioning project! I know Brian has enjoyed getting involved with this community, so hopefully he's able to spread the word as well...
