  1. The Chuckwagon The Meaning Behind The Name - ChaseTheChuckwagon

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Apr 30 2008

For those of you wondering where we came up with this crazy name for a video game auction site, wonder no more.

Back in the late 1970's there was a promotion for Purina Chuckwagon Dogfood. If you bought so much of this dogfood and sent in the required number of UPC Seals, then they would mail you a free Atari 2600 Game - Called "Chase The Chuckwagon". Basically, it was a poor promotion and hardly anyone turned in the UPC seals to receive the game. So, in turn, the game was thought to be quite rare, and for a while was even thought to be one of the rarest games for the Atari 2600. Thus, it was one of the first "Holy Grails" of console game collecting and , since then, in turn, "Chase The Chuckwagon" has become synonomous with the video game collecting publics quest for that one super rare game or video game collectible that could be the center of their collections.

In that context, it seemed like a great name for a video game dedicated auction site.

So there you go. ChaseTheChuckwagon.com has been explained Smile
