Player Chronicle -- Posted on Aug 18 2009

First of all, I apologize for waiting SO long to continue our E3 2009 coverage! There's really no excuse, so that's why I'm just going to say I'm sorry and get back to work...

Alright, so we had a chance to chat with the folks from Bethesda this year and along with receiving some insight on a few of their newest titles, the highlight had to be front row seats to their formal presentation of Brink.

    Brink
This game, developed by Splash Damage with Bethesda, is scheduled to release on all major consoles in the Spring 2010. It is a very colorful and beautifully designed video game, that boasts a lot of neat characteristics.

BasketBabe, RyuBlitz, and I sat in a close door presentation and enjoyed the lights, sounds, and gun shots from this shooter than has some neat Mirrors Edge flavors to it. The scene for this game is 2035, so you have a near futuristic storyline where of course, humanity has been challenged and must survive.

It's been awhile since we sat in this presentation, but I remember it being a FPS game that also incorporated squad-based gameplay.

This game will turn heads similiar to Borderlands I believe, but it may also get diluted because it could be seen as "just another FPS game". I liked it though and I know we all enjoyed the presentation from Splash Damage's Paul Wedgewood.

    WET
The sexual flavored title should have been used for a game that didn't have so much slow-motion in it, haha. We previewed WET after we sat through the Brink demo, and got some hands-on action for this game that has entirely too much Acrobatics, Guns, & Sword fights for one title.

I like what they are trying to do with this game, but the amount of slow-motion elements they're trying to pull off, really slows down gameplay and makes it pretty tough to get involved in the Quentin Terrentino flavored story.

The game does have a unique multiple enemy target system and may cater to a few of you out there, but I personally won't be spending my money on this one.
    __________

So those were the main two games we saw from Bethesda this year. We glanced at Rogue Warrior and the new Fallout expansion/DLC/whatever, haha.

It was great to see Brink in such a neat presentation environment, but nothing really stood out for me at Bethesda, besides great looking graphics like always from this camp.
