Another private showing of Borderlands and a quick tour of The Bigs 2 was my highlight from 2K this year. Unfortunately Bioshock 2 was completely booked, as obviously that’s the main title people wanted to see from this company.

Although I first saw Borderlands at E3 2008, it was good to see how far development has come. The President of developing company Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, shared the demo level as two people played a co-op mission through the deserted lands of this new title. Randy explained that this project is somewhat of a risk, so he’s asked us to share it and encourage those who like it, to spread the word a lot.

Anyways, this FPS and RPG game almost has a Prince of Persia design flavor. As you can read from my review last year, the main element of this game that separates it, is the over 250,000 guns you’re able to experience throughout the adventure. Along with the huge world, the 4-player online co-op, and character development that goes into the experience…Borderlands is pretty cool.

I can tell the developers are putting a lot of sweat into this game, as obviously they’ve been working on it for a long time and with the holiday (2009) release planned, I feel like if you enjoyed Fallout 3, you’ll want to give Borderlands a try for sure.

The Bigs 2 was also a 2K game I had highlighted for me. Not too much major advancement have been made to this game, but as a fan of the original, I think this highly arcade-flavored baseball game will be enjoyed by those who found the first one fun. Look for it to be bigger all around, online only for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and a new Legends Challenge that may be fun. I know this is only one paragraph of highlights, but that’s about all they had to share on the game that drops July 7, 2009.

We also had an appointment to see Mafia 2, but with little interest in the game, we missed that appointment to enjoy other things. 2K was not very impressive for me this year, but I suppose without seeing Bioshock 2 and other games this company was showcasing, that’s somewhat of a closed-minded opinion I suppose.
