Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jul 18 2008

We made two stops to the 2K, Rockstar, and Take Two Interactive Software private room.

    Champions Online
The first visit we were able to demo and experience Champions Online. If you're a comic book fan, this is a must have. This game has amazing graphics, but brings things into a very comic book flavored environment. Thanks to Randy, Aaron, and Chris Lena for their demo and in-depth information about the game!

This MMO is scheduled to be released on the PC and Xbox 360 in 2009. With customizable characters, action/mission based game play, and detailed combat techniques...this is an exciting game that may even be 360/PC friendly so you could play between the two systems. Beta is not scheduled yet, but the developers are very excited about this project that they've worked around 3 years to develop.

    Civilization IV - Colonization
Access Games Marketing Manager, Dennis Shirk, showed us the 3rd expansion to this stand alone title. Scheduled to be released September 08, this PC video game looked very nice.

This strategy, economic, and political game is all about building a society and eventually claiming your independence by establishing a revolution against the old world. You have choices of which country you'd like to start from and the game uses real figures (like George Washington) to immerse you into the game play. Trade, Import, and fight your way to a revolution!

    PS3 Bioshock
Welcome back to Raptuer, as this familiar title is enhanced for the Playstation 3! 2K Boston and 2K Australia produced this project and continue to separate this game with very bold graphics, deep and full sounds, and excellent game play.

One addition to this PS3 release, is some of the DLC, but also "Challenge Rooms", which are separated areas where you can use some of the new toys to complete mini games. This game looked super clean and the presentation by Melissa was great!

    Borderlands
One number describes this game: 650,000. That's how many guns are going to be in this FPS game! It is still "pre-alpha", so we're aways away from playing this game, but it'll be worth the wait.

This was a major game that 2K was here at E3 to highlight. We watched as the president of the development company, Randy, and Mark (who was the producer and demo player) showed off a short co-op level that was full of guns and fun.

These characters that were fortune hunters in a deserted land, use major arsenal and cool vehicles to take on the missions and challenges throughout the game. The music, sounds, and graphics where top-notch and this was one of the more exciting demos we experienced.

    NHL 2K9
"This game is all about fun", but to be honest, didn't look fun at all. As not a huge hockey fan, I wanted to give this title a chance, but besides the graphics, zamboni driving, playoff''s beards, and a new fighting engine, this game might be one that you rent or play at a friend's house. Due out September '08.

    NBA 2K9
Coming October '08, this clean and crisp game looked like alot of fun. This game is for the PS3 and 360 and along with an interactive stadium environment, looks like alot of fun.

In conclusion, Rockstar was nowhere to be found, but 2K was highlighting alot of their upcoming games. We enjoyed the last session with some of the staff from Yahoo Games, so that was interesting and the main room for 2K was one of the most electronic and bright rooms at the convention. It was once again awesome to meet, watch, and play with the individuals who were behind all these great games!
