  1. Gvirus05 A week without my thumb

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Jan 13 2009

Well on Saturday, Jan 03, I lacerated my thumb with a box knife at work. I ended up having to get stitches on my left thumb.

This past week, I have been unable to play any xbox. I attempted to play Mario Kart Wii with the wheel, but I suck at it. So it was basically a week without gaming. That wasn't entirely a bad thing, I was able to tie up some loose ends and spend time with my girlfriend before she headed back to college.

I finally had my stitches removed yesterday, and today was my day off. I spent the majority of the day gaming, and it felt so nostalgic, even after one week.

I've learned to never take my thumbs for granted again. It wasn't just the lack of gaming that got to me, more so the fact that it was hard to button my pants / shirt, I had to shower with a plastic bag on my hand, had to take crap from everyone at work, and having to keep my dog from biting at my bandaged thumb. I swear, she thought I was holding a toy. It was also very hard to perform at my job. I work in computer repair and a bulky, bandaged thumb tends to get in the way. Most of my clients would just sit and laugh at me. Oh well, I'm pretty easy going.

The lesson is, never take anything for granted, no matter how small it is. Our parents and grandparents told us this when we were kids, they were right.

My thumb is back to normal for the most part, the left side of it is numb right now. Anyways, back to gaming and back to buttoning my pants Wink

    I know the feeling. hehe.

Last year, i was the kid in school everyone envied for a week. A snapped my middle finger back on my right hand... (car doors, they are my mortal fiends). Of course, it needed to be splinted (taped to a stick extending to my wrist, so that i couldn't bend it) for
almost 2 weeks. so whenever I went to ask a question, which happens a lot in Calculus.... (Expletive) Very Happy

Everyone laughed so hard the first time they saw it....
