Well, I wanted to jump online one more time before we headed down to get setup for today's big GoG IMAX Tournament. I'm excited to see so many gamers being brought together through this online community! We have over 185 participants and only one day to get all the games in, so I'm a bit nervous, but more excited than anything else
I wish a few things were different and if it was completely our event, all participants would be receiving free official tournament shirts and we'd probably have more corporate sponsorships, but the SCI wanted to do a few things their way and I suppose we can live with that.
The brackets concern me a little bit, but we have enough gaming stations to slide in enough games that I'm sure we'll be just fine. Running tournaments is one thing I have experience with, but receiving late entries and people not showing up is never something I can get used to. If just one person doesn't show up or if one person was not on the correct division list, the brackets are completely different, so that's one of the main challenges. We've got poster sized brackets that look beautiful, but when it's all over, there might be so many marks on the sheets that they may loose some of their beauty
I can't wait to see them completely filled out though, because that means we've had a huge event and it all went through successfully!
All in all, I think our monthly GoG/SCI events have snowballed into a very nice tournament event and with the help of some key GoG staff members, we're going to pull of something today that has not been seen in the Midwest. I believe this event will catapult what we're doing and I hope you'll see alot more of these types of events from Jet Set Studio and GatheringofGamer.com...

Posted On Feb 18 2008That was a nice little read. I'm very interested in helping out with future tournaments. Do you have any open spots on your staff? If so, what exactly are you looking for? I want to be a part of this exciting experience-but not as a player. I want to be on the other side (hence the name)!
