  1. BEN Game Review - Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Mar 28 2010

This FPS sequel has been getting quite a bit of good coverage lately and with the challenges that MW2 presented for the LAN competition at TIPGC 2010, I wanted to check this game out.

A few other GoG members are also picking this game up, but this weekend I had a head start with this title. Without playing the first Bad Company game because it looked liked kind of childish, I didn't have any experience with the game. I was still able to dive right in and I have found this game to be quite addicting from the very start.

It's always a mixture of frustration and fun when you start a new shooter game. It seems like everyone else is better than you at first, but as you start to recognize the maps and your guns continue to be enhanced, things seem get more fluid...and enjoyable! haha

I've enjoyed snipping a lot so far. I like how the aiming system is effected by distance, but it does make thing pretty tough. The 4v4v4v4 is a neat way to enjoy Team Deathmatch on XBL too. I'm eager to figure out how the private/LAN matches are setup. I can't imagine they did worse than Infinity Ward, lol

I'd say the only odd downside is how you can't leave a game without exiting, almost in a way that seems like you'd be penalized in other video games. The scoreboard not having my deaths (just kills) is also kind of a let down.

The squad communication is pretty quiet, like MW2 always seems to be and the map selection is very small, at least for a lowly Level 4 player, so even with these 4-5 maps being pretty neat...I hope more get opened up soon.

I'm not sure what else this game will bring, but so far I'm a pretty big fan. More insight to come soon, but in the meantime, let me know if you're playing this game on Xbox Live so we can squad it up...

I despise this game 1 minute and I love it the next. There are many complaints I have, but I realize that there are many good qualities to this game as well. One of my biggest complaint is the gun XM8, this gun has the distance of my sniper rifle, but kills faster. A few more things I really don't like were said previously in your review, which is the "Leave Game" set up and not displaying your overall kills/deaths/points in the matches.

Looking forward to a patch for this game though.

I had played the pc versions of this games predecessors and they were always great fun. Cool to see your enjoying it so far. The pc versions allowed more players on a single map and the maps were very big, but things always seem to get scaled down for console play.
