  1. BEN Someone Who Knew Neophyte

Player Chronicle -- Posted on May 31 2009

A neophyte is a beginner or novice...a noob if you will, and if you've been listening to Season 2 of the GoGcast recently, you'll know it's a word we've grabbed onto around this video game community.

Pronounced "nee-uh-fahyt", I've been adding it to my vocabulary as often as possible lately, but over the weekend, my good friend Paul (ArmyHawk08 around here) shared that he also knew the meaning of this slick little word that's replacing noob around the gaming community Laughing

I guess they use this term in the military? I also see that it is used as a religious term too. Who knew such a find could come from our conversations on our community-driven podcast.

Speaking of...have YOU heard the recently released Season 2 - Episode 4???

I agree with Zach. I thought it was a dime word at best in a high school graduate's vocabulary.

I've lamented the plague of messaging and other forms of quick communication and its effects on grammar and spelling for awhile now.

I know some recent high school graduates who can't write one sentence without at least one misspelling, and that's choosing their own words from their own limited lexicon (maybe a 25-cent word there, folks!Wink . It's sad.

I've gotta admit. I'm still surprised that none of you had heard of "neophyte" before... Hmm, maybe I just studied for the SAT for too long. Very Happy
