1. Swine Flu: The Video Game

   I'm sure this is insensitive, but I'm pretty tired of the media blowing this Swine Flu pandemic out of proportion.
   
   We've all had the flu and humans get sick...some even die from sickness. Until I see Swine Flu causing the apocalypse, I will continue to be annoyed by seeing every news story flash some random person with a blue mask on...knowing that in 6 months, nobody will even remember this. Maybe then, the title of this Chronicle can become a reality...or at least the next game that JackDaniels624 can conceptualize in his ongoing IFGTABOJPTBIWSPA!!! series
   
   Am I being closed-minded, shallow, or ignorant about this situation???

   Seriously, I'm not worried about Swine Flu at all for 2 reasons (one is theory though)
   
   1. I have an excellent immune system and get sick about once a year.
   
   2. I think that the people who worry a lot are more likely to get sick.
   
   If they accept the fact that they can get sick, they will, so it's best to think it's not even happening. Even though my roommate thinks he has it, I'm not worried one bit. People/News Media need to realize this and the number of infected will stop growing.

   Just had a conversation about this a while ago. Something about how it happened in the 70's or something and everyone had to get a vaccination...The problem was only one guy died of it and 1000's of others were paralyzed. The people who were paralyzed didn't have the flu, they had a bad batch of the vaccination!
   
   But uh yeah, the media does this A LOT! I remember our local news was talking about how cold it was out and desperately warned everyone to stay inside...Becuase 8 people in the whole state had to go to the hospital for MINOR problems! Anyway I'm glad you realize it's not as huge of a deal as what it's made out to be, it's the same way in politics. Some times you just have to shut off the media and think for yourself.

   I don't think the media are blowing it out of proportion, even though they tend to do such with other topics.
   
   Australia is on "Defcon" 2, if you put it in those terms. When it reaches 1, it's pandemic time. Our government ordered 40 million masks and 8 million vials of tami flu..And we're not even sure of the infection rate yet - it could be over 10% fatality.
   
   One thing's for sure, an expert has confirmed that Swine Flu has elements of the deadly 1918 Spanish Influenza, which killed between 20 and 100 million people.
   
   So I am taking this very seriously indeed! But at the same time I know what you mean..

   I got the nasty flu strain that was going around this year, and I certainly felt like dying, but here I am typing away in the GoG. Swine flu is definitely blown out of proportion. I think the ones that died had poor immune systems or other exacerbating conditions. 99.9% of the deaths have been in Mexico - we've had the one 23-month-old toddler. It says a little something for our general health in America.
   
   It's sure easier than ebola. I'd HATE to get that again!

   I do think the media should be covering this, but i agree they could tune it down a little bit, any disease that spreads worldwide and contries tell their people not to go to certain places and kills people i do think nedds to be covered but not as much!
