  1. BEN MLG-Related Thoughts

Player Chronicle -- Posted on Mar 05 2009

With MLG Meadowland's Halo 3 Team Passes selling out so fast and April 3-5 closer than ever, I'm starting to feel the MLG buzz pick up a lot around here and all around the gaming community.

To me, watching the Meadowland Team Passes go on sale, and then see them sell out in under 5 minutes...TWICE...was awfully impressive. If you do the math, that's around 256 registrations at $240 a piece, which means around $61,000+ was made in registration revenue and that's JUST for the 4v4 Halo 3 Division! Add the Gears of War Division to the mix (which is $200 per 4v4 team) and you can get an idea of how big MLG is becoming.

I'm excited that we've gotten a lot more involved with this MLG community and I'm especially excited to host our GoG 2v2 Halo 3 Tournament (3-21-09) before I head over to NY/NJ in April. By using the MLG structuring at our local event, I hope to add some further excitement to the 2009 MLG Season and maybe even meet folks who are also going to jump over to MLG Meadowlands 2009 Very Happy

The other MLG-related thing I'm very excited about and proud to be a part of, would have to be all the great LAN events that our friends, Status Quo, have been organizing. As you may have read in the GoG Forum, they had a rough start against Triggers Down, but came back strong against Instinct and THIS weekend they've got the preseason favorite, Str8 Rippin, coming into Chicago for what should be another very exciting (and fun) LAN!

We continue to see more MLG players and fans joining this unique video game community, so my only hope would be that as we continue developing more and more MLG-flavored toys/tools around here (such as the new MLG-flavored GoG profile template), that the GoG Forum would also pick up with conversation and thoughts towards Major League Gaming.

This is the year of GoG within the MLG community, just so you know Ninja

As I finished writing this GoG Chronicle, I felt it was necessary to mention that although I'm excited to involve more and more MLG elements and members into this community, this unique place will continue to be a place for any and all types of gamers.

I have a lot of interest in Major League Gaming and the community they offer this project, but as a casual gamer myself, I don't want to give the wrong impression that MLG is all we care about here on the GoG.

I'm proud to have retro gamers, new generation console/PC gamers, casual gamers, professional gamers, and everyone in between...be a part of this worldwide, friendly, unique, and growing video game community!!!
