Player Chronicle -- Posted on Feb 25 2009

Snowboarding is one of my favorite things. You almost can't beat the feeling of being on top of a mountain, the hundreds of miles you can see, untouched snow beneath you, and the excitement/challenge of dominating this upcoming run.

After a ultra-busy start to this week (which seems to always happen before vacation), I know the stress will melt away as we see those Rocky Mountains for the first time Shocked

Last year we had a large crew of 11 friends joining us, but this year it's only one car load cruising West. In the past we've always hit Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain, and that whole area; but this time one of my friends who is going has a buddy living in Aspen. I've never been to that area, but can't wait to experience the boarding in this city I only know from the movie "Dumb and Dumber", lol.

I'm bringing my laptop, but I'm unsure of the connectivity I'll have there. If I'm not online very much over this weekend, you'll know why, but you can be sure that the 11 hour road trip will give me some solid time to design more fun things for this community.

Keep the conversations flowing everyone, but when I get back it'll be time to focus on Kidsfest 2009, the Midwest Gaming Classic in Wisconsin, and our own GoG 2v2 Halo 3 & Guitar Hero Tournament here in Iowa Ninja

As I return back to Iowa this week, I wanted to update this Chronicle and share how enjoyable Aspen was!

We hit Highlands, Snowmass, and Aspen Mountain during the three straight days of boarding and although I'm not going to post all my photos from the amazing trip, I do have a highlight reel I'm working on and how to share that soon. Snowmass was my favorite resort by far and in fact, may be my favorite mountain in all of the Colorado I've seen.

Thanks for Curtis and Kelly who were the best hosts we could have asked for, and to Brad, Shad, and Zim for making the trip such a great experience!

See you next year Colorado Ninja

Enjoy BEN! It feels a little wierd hearing about snow boarding since where I live the snow keeps melting, not quite completely, and then it snows again...And now it's melting again. So when i think of snowboarding my mind instantly goes to my yard of half green and half white...Wierd I know Laughing

I didn't know you were a snowboarder Ben! It's been a while since I've seen Aspen, but I'm pretty sure most of the Hotels broadcast internet for free, so you can at least check your e-mail once in a while. If you ever get a chance to come out here for an extended stay, don't just stop at Aspen. There are so many different mountains in Western Colorado. Crested Butte, Vail, Telluride, etc, etc, etc. All of which are known for some of the best slopes in the nation. I've only been to Powderhorn this winter because I've been poor, but even they have a few really nice runs if you know your way around the mountain.

On a side note, if anybody ever comes out to ski Telluride, make sure to hit me up. I live like 45 minutes away Wink

I am ridiculously jealous of you right now. I've been dying to get back on the slopes, ever since I got back from Telluride... When are we finally going to have our JSS "board" meeting? Wink
