Gamer Bio:
The arcade version of Pacman/Donkey Kong at the dentist's office, PC games like Asteroid and text-based adventure games, and the NES were my first main exposures to video games as a child. This was before you paid for the Internet by the minute and I can remember when I bought the NES used from a friend...the $150-some dollar investment was a major decision for me and my parents, but with the games that came with it, I had to have it! I can also remember the friends I had back then, only because they owned the hottest video game console, lol.
I've been a gamer all my life and hit it especially hard in college, where I aspired to design them. We would spend endless hours gaming with friends in school and after I received my Computer Science degree, I went out and tried to jump into the industry.
I soon found out that these days, you really need a video game specific degree. I interviewed with High Voltage Software and had a job offer in San Diego as a game tester for Sony products, but ended up coming back to Des Moines, Iowa and fell into the Internet.

I worked at Captain Jack Communications until 2010, until moving to the largest web development firm in Iowa, Global Reach. My work consists of conceptualizing medium to large web development projects for businesses all around the country. My work is such a challenge and I enjoy seeing so many professional business markets. It also allowed me to develop The Iowa 3v3 Soccer Challenge, which was my first entrepreneurial experience that I developed completely on my own. After 2 years of that venture being successful and still wanting to get into the video game industry, I conceptualized this place.
One night, during a night of 4-person gaming, I opened up the idea to Andy, my best friend. With his health issues in the past, we had been able to stay connected with each other through video games and it created a special bond between us. We decided that this would be a chance to develop a business together and the rest is history!

These days, I personally enjoy FPS games the most, but can appreciate almost anything. Our live video game tournaments/events are so cool and it allows me to make friends through this unique entertainment medium and finally, I can consider myself a part of the video game industry!
My long-term goal for this GoG community, is to see the membership continue to grow over 10,000 users and to help develop tools for all of us to use together...

Posted On Mar 16 2011First of all, let me say that my post was by no means meant to be a personal attack. I understand that you do what you have to do to stay afloat in an ever more competitive online atmosphere, as there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of community-centric gaming sites on the internet. TIPGC is also a great event, and I may actually come down this weekend to support it. I've encountered lots of great people here, actually live with one of them, and still have an affection for this site.
I'm not necessarily complaining about being asked to promote this site. Far from it. Most of my animosity comes from the fact that after doing what I (and others) have done to help out, I feel as though those deeds are overshadowed by people that just happen to be good at Halo.
I know I'm not the greatest contributor to the podcast, but it would have been nice to receive some kind of notice that my services were no longer needed. It went from being on there every week, to simply not receiving calls. I didn't take it personal or anything, but stuff like that causes a huge disconnect between a person and the community.
Speaking of which, I guess the community itself has evolved into something completely different than it used to be. While it's not necessarily a bad thing, it's weighed heavily on the competitive side, and when you're a guy that just likes to play games, it's an intimidating atmosphere.
Just for the record, I still consider myself a member of this community. I'm not leaving, and I will try to start up conversations and write more chronicles, which I had been wanting to do anyway, but just can't find the time.
I'm sorry if I came off as a dick, and apologize if you took any of that personally. -

But the logo. BMW actually got its start in WW1 making German plane engines. After the war that part was shut down and they concentrated on cars. Thats what the logo is...white propellers against a blue sky. -

My PS3 eye will not work as a webcam, so I will need to borrow some. I think it would be good to use a capture card on a SDTV too, just so people can actually see some gaming. I'm not sure what the Ustream or Ufrag interfaces support or how to work them, so if you're wanting to cast there, I'd definitely want to be there early to figure out how everything is going to work. -

so i got it for 40$ plus the cost to have gamefly for a week 3.75. I couldn't pass that deal up.

Posted On Nov 19 2009I played MW2 for a good solid 4 hours last night, while the SP was just as frusterating as i remember the MP seems to be much better.
I dig the new graphics, the brighter colors. I think my problem with COD4 was just how hard it was to find people at times, the kill cam has helped that (did COD4 have a kill cam?).
The unlockable are almost overwhelming too, im having a good time with it but i have not pasted final judgement yet.

Summer is the one to talk to ( I see her comment right there two below) I'm sure even the guys over at Astro Gaming might be willing to place some at their booth. Do you know Rob that usually runs the DR. Pepper booth? He'd probably pass em out for ya too. Anyhow, yeah I'll stay active for sure. I'm not much of a forum junkie but I'll check it out. I grew up there so I plan on attending as long as we don't lose my grandmother between now and then as my money will be spent elsewhere. Posted On Aug 14 2009We do car audio, yeah. Not so much repairs, but we certainly do have car audio stuff! We make our own component speakers, subs, and amps. Head units we don't, but we can get Alpine ones. If you need any help with any troubleshooting/installing, let me know. I will personally do pretty much anything for a 6-pack.

There are MANY, many things I'm excited for! Heavy rain doesn't really catch my attention (other than being gorgeous), but I don't really know much about it. MAG sounds awesome, but I've already got enough FPS's in my possession and cue to last a few years! I'm not sure which pixeljunk title you were referring to, but all their titles are unique and intriguing. -
