Midwest Gaming Classic
Player Chronicle -- Posted on Mar 01 2008
If you are into retro video games, swap meets, video game conventions then the Midwest Gaming Classic is for you!
Located at Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, Wi (about 25 miles west of Milwaukee) this convention is a great place to pick up classic video games and systems. Last year I picked up a slightly loved Sega Nomad for $20 and numerous hard to find games. It is also a great stop to check out the latest and greatest homebrew development for classic systems like Atart 2600, NES, etc.
Another great thing about the convention is you get to hear from unique guests like Ben Heck. Ben is the foremost developer of homemade portable gaming. He started making portable Atari 2600's, NES, SNES, but then moved to to Xboxes and the ultimate in portable gaming the xbox 360 elite laptop.
If that isn't enough to whet your whistle you can also find the video game museum there. In it you will find nearly every video game ever made (and some that were not!) The best part? Most are playable! You will also be able to play dozens of classic arcade machines free of charge.
I am also partial to the show because of their door prizes. My first year there I won a drawing for a xbox 360 (a few months after they hit shelves). This year you could win a Wii.
This year is going to be really sweet because the GoG will be represented by yours truly. We will have a booth set up to recruit new members and network with other folks in the industry.
If there are any GoG folks in Iowa that would like to attend I can offer a ride to two other people. If you have an interest please send me a PM.
The Midwest Gaming Classic will be from March 29th - 30th.

Posted On Mar 07 2008I've been to all the Midwest Classics since the beginning - it's worth a long trip to go see. Bring $$$ too cause there is a lot of games and systems to pick up. There are a ton of arcade machines on free play and lots of contests, guest speakers, and gaming history to walk through. I highly recommend it!!!!

Posted On Mar 02 2008I'd also be interested in going, although I may have to work Saturday until 3:30, but if not I'd be willing to throw down on a carpool, and or GoG secret service management.
