I chose to do a game review on Gears of War 2, not only because it is my favorite game, but also because it is the game I compete most in.
On March 24, 2009, Epic came out with an update, fixing multiple problems and glitches in the game. Just to name a few off: ranking system, weapon spawns, and new maps.
The new ranking system has given the players a legit way of showing how many points he/she has earned in matchmaking. Epic has called it the True Skill ranking system. Unfortunately people have still found a way to cheat the game and achieve a star with wings (level 100) and for the first time Epic is actually putting their foot down and is going to do something about it. Recent reviews stated that Epic will permanently label these cheaters, CHEATERS! They are working with Microsoft and will put something in these cheater’s bios and xbox.com pages, labeling them as cheaters for life. Also, the cheater’s achievement points will be reset and will be unable to achieve them again (not for just Gears of War 2 but for every game they have played).
For those who quit out or get disconnected from public matches, there are now bots that jump in and take the quitters spot. These bots are not the best of players but will defiantly put in damage points towards the other team. Also, those who quit loose 1500 exp points on the ranking system.
They have added standby detection, playlist optimization, new achievements, and a new Snow Blind map pack. They have also taking out the weapon slide and melee attack through walls. They have changed weapon spawning on Subway, reduction to smoke-grenade stun duration, angles to trigger chainsaw duels and many more revisions.
Obviously I'm a fan of this game, so I wanted to make sure our community was in the know about these recent updates. Let me know if you think you can hang and listen for me on this upcoming season of the GoGcast!

Posted On May 02 2009Gears of War 2 is definitely one of my favorite competitive games to play. I have been rather focused on Left 4 Dead recently, I should probably dust off Gears and get back in the game
