1. Is the "Slim" shady?

   Sony has a scheduled press event at Gamescon (Germany) coming up Tuesday. The rumors of the PS3 slim have been running completely rampant for weeks now and Sony has not denied this rumor as they have done without hesitation in the past. (Namely price drop rumors over the past 2+ years).
   
   There have been many "leaked" photos and videos of the supposed product, none of which I personally have fallen for. There are also many confidential retailers claiming that their stock of PS3's are not being refilled (hinting that a new replacement is coming). I don't know what to make of all this, but I'm having trouble understanding why Sony would not have released this information if the product is in fact ready for release.
   
   Then on top of all this there is still the topic of price. Pretending that there are PS3 slims sitting somewhere waiting to be shipped out, at what price? What happens to the current 80/160GB PS3's? Many predict that the slim will retail for $399 and the current "phat" models will be lowered. If you happened to be in the market, which would you buy?
   
   Most of the media seems to consider the slim to be "official". Do you think its coming?

   It's official! It's coming, and it's coming September 1st, 2009! AND it will only be $299!

   We shall see, but I personally would rather see a price reduction on the original PS3, versus giving us a dumbed down version of the system for less money. Great Chronicle
