Player Chronicle -- Posted on Dec 22 2008

Which came first an HDTV, or your current gen console?

Reading another chronicle, I was thinking back to when I got my PS3 and hooked it up to an old tube console TV. You know, the type that were built into a giant wooden box! Yeah, that was gamin' right there! Needless to say I could hardly read any of the on-screen information, and the sub menus, forget it! It didn't take long for me to purchase an HDTV after that, even though I couldn't really afford it. But seeing those two play so well together just brings a tear to my eye! (or maybe it's the lack of sleep combined with eye-strain?)

The Xbox 360 was long before the HDTV, but my previous TV did the job because it was pretty large Very Happy

Good chronicle thought though and with this year's Black Friday deals, I'm sure people got caught up on one thing or another, haha.

I had my 360 almost a full year before I invested in an HDTV. I wish I would have gotten it sooner though, as the picture quality of the 360 in HD is leagues above the 25" Magnavox TV I had been using for the last 7 years. The only problem with the HDTV is the A/V lag in rhythm games. I've had varying degrees of success calibrating it, but haven't quite got it perfect yet. I'm more or less used to it now though.

On a side note, I hooked up my 8-bit NES to the HDTV last night and it was awesome. There's nothing quite like playing River City Ransom on a nice, clean screen. I can't wait to play my other retro systems on it now. Very Happy
